Lalita Sharma

Guru and her Vision

Apart from being a performer of repute, Vidushi Sharma is also a much-sought-after Guru. She strongly feels that classical music needs to be passed on to the next generation to be kept alive.

After establishing the Pandit Jasraj Schools of Music in Tampa, Atlanta, and Los Angeles, she is the Founder & Director of Swaraangan, a school for Hindustani music in Chennai. Swaraangan, a nonprofit organization founded in 2012 in Chennai, aims to promote classical music and all other forms of art. Training is imparted in the traditional Guru-Shishya parampara.

Apart from her Gharana repertoire, she has imparted voice culture, proper voice throw training , to an amazing number of students all over the world. Classes are offered both online and in person. Swaraangan also undertakes outreach programmes for economically challenged children.

In addition, Vidushi Sharma has given many workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and lectures all around the world. Her philosophy of teaching is simple: She feels she has been blessed by her Gurus and her parents, and having acquired such deep knowledge in both traditions of classical music, she feels she must strive to pass it on to deserving students and mould them into performers and lovers of music.
